A Show by Andrew French
"Andrew French's sculpture at Common Sense harks back to the drawing-in-space school of the 60s, a sculpture style that was dominant when I was a student. There are important differences however, not least in the aggressive handling of the material.

These sculptures demonstrate to me the continuing vitality of Modernist sculpture after a hundred or more years. To paraphrase Mark Twain: Reports of the Death of Modernism have been greatly exaggerated."

Nice job, thanks. Can I get a copy of that, I'll use that in my report.
You can just download it for yourself, although you might need DownloadHelper to do it.
Also, I just caught this blurb in SEE Magazine:
A Show Called A Show
Arts News is in roundup mode this week... so let’s see how many items we can lasso. First, the visual arts events. Plainspoken sculptor Andrew French has a show entitled A Show up and running at Common Sense Gallery until Aug. 22 — you can watch a charming video from the opening reception at commonsensegallery.com, and French’s airy arrangements of spheres and cylinders in steel and copper are equally delightful.
My heart is warmed.
SO, are any of Edmonton's many aspiring art writers reviewing this show for one of our cities fine publications? Has anyone made contact?
Andy I'm sorry I missed your Show. Lucky for me someone took a video, so I just missed the charming company of artists. From what I could see in the video here, I think your work is "totally tubular".
Cher, you totally have, like, two more days to see it...
Andrew..what's the title for the large 'yellow' sculpture? Brilliant.
I'm seriously regretting not hearing about this sooner. Will that piece be installed anywhere down the road for future viewing?
Thanks ITEM, the piece titled 'Yellow' has come back to the studio for some minor modifications before being shown again.
oops wrong account
Thanks Tanya.
Hey Tanya, you might want to tell Andy to apply for this....
It seems I would be required to pay for shipping there and back, the only benefit being half price catalogues
Well, it would also broaden the ol' CV, and then there's 'exposure', chance of a sale, maybe...
I thought you might send "Blue"...
